UI/UX App: Retail

Brief

Retail is an emotional and evolving industry. We want to create a well-crafted app to engage the customer and create a seamless shopping experience with easy discovery of new items. A total of 5 projects were assigned detailing early to late progress and a unique flow was also required within the app.

Summary

To accomplish this goal, my partner and I settled on creating a retail app with a focus on the merchandise of music artists. The design is shown to have a modern feel with vibrant colors to contrast with the various images seen throughout the app. Our unique flow was to create a service where users could discover new artists and merchandise through a short questionnaire/survey.

Early Explorations

Much of the early explorations included building personas, laying out a flowchart, creating low-fidelity wireframes, and initial to outline the overall flow and feel of the app in regards to function before getting into primary design

Design System

The logotype was inspired by other existing type in music today whether it felt almost hand-written or had a punch to it. The colors were primarily based upon a dark mode usage of the app while a pink color was used to accent much of the black parts of the app. Components were built as needed for certain portions such as the unique flow, loading screen, or image portions.

Unique Flow

Our unique flow answers the problem of individuals who’d feel overwhelmed when looking at all the various artists and their respective merchandise. The unique flow aims to guide users towards artists they’d be comfortable with and/or be introduced to a new artist that align with their answers.
